Depot Days 4 x 25 miles

Four 25 mile loop options will be offered. (both clockwise and counter clockwise). All routes start and end at the Oberlin Depot. All routes offer a bathroom stop, generally near the mid-point.

This is a Map/YOYO (You’re On Your Own) ride. There will be no designated ride leaders. The routes are not marked and there is no SAG support. A limited number of Route maps will be available at registration. It is strongly recommended that you print your own. See Event Maps/Cues below.

Riders are encouraged to ride with a partner and carry a cell phone.

Riders should sign in at the Depot prior to riding. Riders are also encouraged to check back in when they are finished riding for the day and to write down their mileage for the day.

If any folks indicate a welcome to riding companions on the newsgroup, their announcements indicating intended star level, distance and start time will be indicated here.

I am looking for volunteers to act as Depot Sitters. Shifts start at 7 A. M. and to finish around 5 P.M. The more folks who volunteer the shorter the shifts. Your duties are simply to be there to answer questions, pass out maps and advise riders to sign in. Please call or email me to volunteer and be sure to let me know if you have a preferred time. Links to 4 routes on RidewithGPS will be posted and there will be a limited number of maps available at the Depot on ride day.

Event Maps/Cues

As part of Depot Day, I will be leading a Pedal Pusher ride at 10 AM from the Depot. This is a ride for those who want to try out club riding, but are not really confident about riding with a group. We will go at a slow, easy pace with the length of the ride on the trail at about 7 miles. Those who might wish to do less mileage can easily do so since the entire ride will be on the trail. Join us!!

PS If anyone else wants to join me for more mileage after the Pedal Pusher at a 2- pace, let me know.

Just letting folks know that I plan to do a century on Saturday at a 3* pace, and will be departing from the Depot at 7:15 a.m. Anyone riding that pace is welcome to join me for 1, 2, 3, or all four loops. I haven't decided in which order or in which direction (clockwise or counter) I will ride the four different routes. I'll be taking a short break between loops for snacks and restroom. Since Lorain County Health & Dentistry (directly south of Depot) doesn't have client appointments on Saturdays, I will park in the back of their lot, or at the Depot if there is space available.
