ANTIETAM BATTLEFIELD

Join us for a trip to Shepherdstown,West Virginia which will be our base for bicycle rides to the Antietam battlefield, the site where Confederate General R. E. Lee’s first invasion of the North was turned back in 1862 and to Harpers Ferry, where John Brown, (with Ohio/Oberlin connections, by the way), carried out his raid on the Springfield Armory in 1859 hoping to arm slaves for a rebellion. The rides will be approximately 25 to 30 miles in length, some of it on the C& O Canal path - unpaved - at a leisurely pace suitable for sight seeing. There are still rooms available.
