Halloween Ride and Potluck
This fun ride and potluck is on the Calendar again. this year! Bicycle safe costumes are encouraged, but not required. We will be starting at the Oberlin Library, 65 S. Main Street. Park in the library parking lot, the police station/city hall lot, at the medical offices just behind the library, or there are a few parking spaces on Pleasant St. at the Pleasant St. Park.
Library opens at 10 a.m. and the club has reserved the Community Room (just inside the front doors past the restrooms) from 10 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. If you are bringing a crockpot of soup, or other potluck items, the room will be open for drop-off of food. A refrigerator is available in the kitchenette.
10:30 a.m. Short bike parade by costumed riders or any Silver Wheels riders, returning to the library parking lot, perhaps shed onerous costumes, and form up for the rides.
10:45 a.m. Rides for each pace level leave the east end of library parking lot exiting onto Pleasant St.
12:45 p.m. Lunch! Soup, salads, and of course desserts!
Optional: Stay after lunch to play table games and socialize.
Here’s where help is needed:
Ride Leader Miles Route
1* C. Burkhardt
2+* Serio 20 2+* Route
3-* Weber 20 3-* Route
3+* Schneider 25 Star Chase with the 4* ride
4* Hipskind 25 4* Route (check out the sights)
Note: When a Star Chase is indicated, Two or more rides of adjacent levels will be using the same route. Unlike a typical club ride, the leader(s) will not slow down to accommodate lagging riders, instead leaving them to be picked up by a trailing group. The lowest participating level will leave no one behind.
Contact Eva if you are willing to lead a ride.
Ride leaders for + or - ride paces are also welcome to volunteer.
Crockpot Soup Makers: Thanks to all who have volunteered to make soup. No additional soup makers are needed.
Potluck Contributors: Members are welcome (not mandatory) to bring salads, breads, crackers, desserts, etc. You don’t have to sign up to indicate what you are bringing in advance. If you have nothing to bring, come anyway. We only ran out of food once – but that is another story.
Table Service provided by the club will be available, but we encourage you to be kind to the environment and bring your own reusable table service.
Table Games: If you have an interesting table game, bring it to play after we eat.
Clean Up: We have to take down the tables, chairs that we set up and be out of the room by 2:30 p.m.
You don’t need to sign up to help with this in advance…just hang around and help!
Note: If the weather is poor, probably only the folk with new foul weather gear to try out will ride, but we will definitely eat and socialize.
Mask Use in Library: Currently the library encourages mask use in the building, but they are not required.
